LANCE LICHTENSTEIGER

Lance was born in the New Jersey and graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in agricultural business. He became a Navy pilot and later a flight instructor in Pensacola, Florida. With an interest in woodworking and a strong affinity for working with his hands, he founded and operated a successful construction company after retiring from the Navy. He began carving cedar decoys as a hobby but it became a full time job as interest in his carvings grew.
Working with chestnut logs Lance salvaged mostly from old bridges and log cabins, the carvings are rough cut on a band saw and chiseled into shape. endy work on pieces together in a three-step sanding process. The pieces are attached and mounted on a base. The legs are formed, the wood is stained and clear sealer is applied to bring the pieces to life.
