DESIGNING A DRAG RACER
| Jim got a chance at designing a Funny Car Drag Racer that apparel company Caribbean Soul sponsored. Gracing the car body was his popular tropically attired Iguana seen on many Caribbean Soul tees over the years. This time around the lizard was a lot more pumped up and ready to win! Flames and smoke dominate many car designs. It may be more a connection to the food there than to the cars! | ||||||||||||||||

| The Team Caribbean Soul Funny Car gets the OK sign from a crew member to head down the track at the Gainesville Nationals in Florida. Those who regularly attend the races know to come prepared with earplugs as the roar of takeoff is deafening. | ||||||||||||||||
| Below: Jim stands next to his artistic creation. Instead of painting each car, large decals are applied to the body of the car. Nitro fuel fumes and the wear of racing can play havoc on the art so it needs to be easily replaced. At left: the latest incarnation is a silver top fuel dragster. ProCal of South Carolina did a great job with the art. They handle graphis for Nascar pros like Jeff Gordan. It's a honor to be in such great company! | ![]() |
