FISH BY BARRETT |
||||||||||||||||||||||
| Fran Barrett first put her hands in clay in 1974 and hopes to never take them out again. She has a BA in Studio Art, Emphasis Ceramics, from the University of West Florida and has owned her own studio, Bear Creek Clayworks, since 1987. A year after discovering clay, she discovered Bear Barrett, a self-taught artist who developed his interest in glazing through working with her. They have collaborated ever since, Fran making the original forms and Bear creating the finishes. They began making fish together back in1989 and have won numerous awards for their marine art. Bear takes a unique approach to glazing the fish as he places up to 100 fish on a very large lazy Susan. Unglazed fish are piled up randomly as he spatters, drips and airbrushes large schools of fish with color. No two fish are alike in color but relate to one another by virtue of the random color application. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
