The casting of Bronze is an ancient craft dating back at least 5,000 years. The artist creates the sculpture from which a rubber or plaster mold is made. Hot wax is poured into the mold to form a model identical to the original model. The wax model is dipped into liquid silica to build up a casing thick enough to hold molten bronze. The wax model encased in the silica mold is melted out known as "the Lost Wax Process." Molten bronze is then poured into the cavity where the wax once was. The casing is removed and the bronze is ready for final finishing and coloration.
